Political Eligibility Hearing for Jim Hall, Today
September 12th, 2016 by Joe BurgessIn August, MLive ran a story about a lawsuit questioning district 9 state representative candidate Jim Hall’s worthiness to seek election, based on a hot check arrest out of Conway.
After the case was filed in Drew County Circuit Court, all five 10th judicial district circuit court judges recused themselves from hearing the case, based on the candidate Halls lawsuit against them, last year.
The Arkansas administrator of courts then began searching for a special judge, to hear the case. It was decided Thursday that a well-known retired judge from Jonesboro would be appointed: Judge David Laser. Judge Laser is often recognized for being the judge for the trial of the “West Memphis 3,” and also a 2015 case where a state senator from Conway faced charges.
Since the circuit court room is unavailable, the Hall/Bolin case will be heard in the district court room, in the old post office by City Hall. Monday morning at 10 AM.
