Arrest Solves Hamburg Bank Robbery

An identified, fully masked black male entered the bank at 9:18 AM, Thursday morning. A 911 call notified law enforcement of the armed robbery. The suspect fled west on Jefferson Street, on foot.
He threatened employees with what appeared to be a handgun.
Surveillance video was acquired by law-enforcement, showing the suspect unmasked, before entering the bank. His recognition quickly led to his arrest, which took place without incident.
Tramon Savage, a 22-year-old Hamburg Hickory Street resident was taken into custody shortly after the crime.
A backpack containing all of the stolen money was recovered, along with the weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun.
Hamburg police chief Johnny Oliver wanted to complement the quick response and assistance he received from the Ashley County and Morehouse Parish Sheriffs’ Department and Arkansas State Police for their support, which led to the quick resolution of this case.
Savage is facing felony charges of aggravated robbery, and is being held in the Ashley County jail, pending first appearance and bond hearings.
