Pick Up Collides with Big Rig, Bursts Refrigerated Fuel Tank
May 22nd, 2017 by iPhoneShortly after 10:30, Sunday night, the driver of this Ford pick-up was traveling south on Highway 83, at the 425 intersection, when it seems he crossed the roadway and struck the refrigerated trailer fuel tank on a southbound big rig.
As shown in the top photo, the fuel tank became partially dislodged and quickly drained the diesel it contained into the roadway.
MPD worked to the crash saying, is Drew County OEM responded to deal with the fuel spill.
A witness at the scene told officers that he believes he saw the driver of the Ford leave the scene in another vehicle.
At 4 AM, OEM was still on the scene, along with a HAZ MAT cleanup team, absorbing just under 50 gallons of spilled diesel.
