At last week’s parks committee meeting, the group was trying to find the best location for the soon-to-be replaced skate park.
Due to the noise that the area would produce, along with the current proximity to the senior center and residential areas, a proposed land trade with the Monticello school district was suggested to be pursued.
The suggestion was…
The paved and concreted area, which currently belongs to the city, and is currently used for tennis and basketball courts, would be traded to the Monticello school district, in exchange for…
An equal in value piece of land, located near or south of the old City Park structure.
If this transaction were to take place, there would be additional parking for upcoming sports events at Hyatt Field; The city would be able to provide same-level parking for the new Miracle League field, which is being built at Ross Field; And the city would have an area for the new skate park, located appropriate distance from residential areas.
Basketball and tennis courts would also be located there.
