Parks Committee Discusses Tennis Courts, Skate Park, & Closing Henry St., Closing Volleyball Court & adding Sand Box – Video
April 11th, 2014 by iPhoneThe Parks Committee discussed making several possible changes at the city’s parks.
They recommended that the volleyball court be removed, to make more room for people to access the amphitheater. They discussed the construction of a small sandbox to be constructed where the volleyball court is now.
Location of a skate park was discussed. Options considered were Western Pines Park and McCloy Park. McCloy Park is considered a better choice because of its more central location. The tennis courts at McCloy Park are being considered as an option for the location of the skate park.
The tennis courts at Western Pines can be repaired for the city’s tennis court. It was pointed out that Monticello Schools, Drew Central and UAM all have tennis courts that can be used by the public. The committee also discussed permanently closing Henry Street, which is the street that runs between the swimming pool and the football field.
They plan to hold a community forum on these topics was agreed on by the committee.
