Around 10 pm, Tuesday night, a UAM professor was arrested by University Police for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and threatening an officer.

Robin Hood, son of Mack and Nola Hood, has lived in Drew County for almost all of his life. He was raised with 3 sisters and 3 brothers and said that having so many siblings made growing up a lot of fun, and described them as a very close family.
“We were very family oriented. My family was very loving and very Christian oriented. My mother was very spiritual and she was the spiritual head of our family. We always went to church; it was the focus of our lives.”
Jessie Griffin, Republican candidate for county judge is age 59 and married to Linda Bordeaux Griffin. He is running for county judge “to give back to the community” that has been his home for many years and to utilize the management and leadership skills he has developed over the last forty years.
“I’m a natural born leader,” Robert Akin, independent county judge candidate, said.
Demonstrating leadership started as early as grade school and continued through high school and into the workforce. He mentioned always being a leader in clubs in high school including running the rodeo club, which sent and paid kids’ way to nationals. Akin presided as president of the State Chuck Wagon Association with 700 members. This organization worked with special needs kids through Ark of Arkansas and Sunshine School by putting on rodeos for them. He served as vice president of Maintenance Local at the Pine Bluff paper mill requiring him to represent and negotiate contracts for 400 people.
PrimeLending celebrated their ceremonial ribbon-cutting last week, with a catered meal for their guests and tours of their new facility.
The PrimeLending staff also presented awards recognizing our local Veteran’s organizations, UAM, and the Cornerstone Coalition.

Several Drew Central students recently made the Southeast Junior and Senior All Region Choirs. DCHS students are Jessica Wishard and Caleb Eubanks, 1st chair; Michael Carpenter, 4th chair; Katie Taylor and Hunter Neptun, 7th chair; Kyle Kamminicki, 9th chair, Samantha Jo Chapman, 17th chair; Jazmine Rivera, 20th chair; Bianca Rochelle, 2nd alternate. They will be participating in the senior high choir.
A local focus group is seeking ideas and volunteers to organize an annual Festival to be held on the 4th Saturday of October.

The Monticello Fire Dept. was called to this mobile home fire, Sunday afternoon, around 2 pm.
The cause of the fire on Florence Road is undetermined. The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
MFD also responded to a home fire at Cottonwood Lane and HWY 35, near Lake Monticello, around 7 pm, Tuesday.
The rescue team also spent several hours on the scene of Monday’s fatal crash at Wilmar, along with their routine duties.
According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, Saturday, Deputy James Slaughter was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for crossing the fog line and driving left of center.
Larry Allen of Monticello was the drawing winner for a Remington model 770 Youthmaster 243 rifle.
The drawing was held as a part of the Robin Hood for Judge Campaign.

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, authorities with the Drew County Sheriff’s Department, Monticello Police Department, and Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Thursday, October 25th, at a residence at Oak View Apartments on West Jackson Street.
