Around 2:30, Sunday morning, Monticello Police and Arkansas State Troopers responded to the call of home on Oakland Street, being struck by a Chevy SUV.
Former Drew County Circuit Clerk Pat Scifres Savage Montgomery accepted a guilty plea on two of the three charges she was accused of, in Drew County Circuit Court, this morning by a special appointed judge, Judge John Langston of Little Rock.
Just before 3 pm, Thursday afternoon, a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Carolla were involved in a head-on collision on Old Warren Road, near the Monticello High School.
Monticello Fire & Rescue were paged out to extricate the driver of the Camry. Monticello Police, Drew County Sheriff’s Office, and Arkansas State Troopers worked and assisted at the crash scene.
SEEMS and MASI transported the injured victims. Dan’s Towing and C&L Wrecker towed the Toyotas.
During Sunday morning’s heavy rains, there were several motor vehicles accidents, including this one on Winchester Road.
The driver lost control of the Dodge pick-up, which struck a large tree. The impact caused a large tree limb to fall onto the vehicle.
Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. worked the crash scene, the driver was transported to Drew Memorial Hospital.
The new Sadie Johnson Community Center is scheduled to hold it’s grand opening Sunday, April 14 at 3 pm.

Around 8 am, this morning, a Penske rented box van, headed north, the driver reportedly fell asleep while driving, rolling the large vehicle into the ditch of Hwy 425, near Beulah Road.
Arkansas State Police, Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies, AHTD, and Reliable Wrecker worked the wreck site.
The driver declined medical attention by the responding ambulance.

Drew County road workers removed the speed bump on Wilson Mill Road (near Maxwell Hardwood Flooring) Friday morning.

Heavy rain fell across Drew County, Sunday morning, causing several roads to be underwater, in places; sending at least three vehicles into crashes, especially around 11 am.
On Old Dermott Road, a Toyota was traveling toward HWY 35, hydroplaned after hitting some water over the roadway, then struck a tree and rolled over.
The driver was transported to DMH by SEEMS.
The Fire & rescue Team and Sheriff’s Dept. responded to the call.
Another vehicle was invoplved in a single vehicle acciden, east of the Pine Hill / HWy 293 intersection, MASI and DCSO worked that accident.
Yet another vehicle, this time a Lincoln, ran off of HWY 425, near lacey, crossing into the trees, next to the highway. DCSO also responded to that accident.
Finally, a tree was reported to have fallen across HWY 35 West, near Rock Springs, blocking both lanes of the highway.

Drew County Extension Agent Hazelene McCray earned her master degree in Workforce Development from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She participated in the commencement on December 15, 2012.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas in Monticello.
Hazelene is married to James L. McCray Sr. They have two sons and seven grandchildren
Peggy Brooks has announced the publication of her debut novel, The Stories My Children Didn’t Want to Hear.
Peggy, writing under her maiden name of Peggy J. Henry Brooks, has lived most of her 74 years of life in Southeast Arkansas and has recently had the first volume of her lifelong stories, self-published by Lulu, and says “This first volume is dedicated to my kids because this would not have been possible had they not tired of hearing my stories over and over again.”
The City of Monticello apologizes for any inconveniences caused in the process to convert from bag pick up to cart pick up for solid waste.
Every address with a cart will be picked up one day a week and those days are based off of the voting wards; ward one will be picked up every Monday, ward two on Tuesday, ward three on Thursday and ward four on Friday. If you don’t know which ward you live in, please call 367-3415.

Last October, at 2:15, on an early Saturday morning, a local man, his girlfriend, and her daughter were arrested, following a traffic stop for no license plate by Monticello Police, near HWY 425 & Barkada Road. All three occupants were charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
The man and woman plead guilty to their Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug paraphernalia charges Thursday morning in Drew County Circuit Court. Both were wanted by authorities on warrants at the time of their arrest.
