Leo S. Jackson died Friday, April 19th. Born April 22, 1932 in Wilmar, Arkansas to the late James “Jim” Jackson and Clara Chavis-Jackson, Leo found that he had a gift when he started out working with his father. He was a very well-known carpenter throughout southeast Arkansas and began his entrepreneurship over 50 years ago building houses, cabinets and room addition anything a person could think of.
He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and rededicated his life back to Christ under the leadership of Rev. Jessie Washington and was a faithful member of St. James A.M.E. church in Wilmar until his health failed him. Although he couldn’t attend church he always tuned in and listen to Bishop G.E. Patterson every Sunday. Leo is preceded in death by his brothers James Edward Jackson, Alberta Walter Jackson, James Walter Jackson and his sister Madeline Jackson and his first wife Rosie Lee Jackson.
He leaves to cherish is memory, his devoted wife Charlie Mae Smith- Jackson; four sons Gregory Reid (Bennie), Kenneth Smith Sr., Kevin L. Smith, Nick Smith all of Monticello; three daughters Charlotte Smith, Jo Ann Trotter of Monticello and Toasha Davis of Taylor, MI; three brothers, James Travis Jackson of Kenosha WI, Curley Lee Jackson of Wilmar, and Lester Marvin Jackson of Stockdale, TX; two sisters Odessa Winfield of Chicago, IL and Patricia Ann Douglas of Wilmar. He leaves a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends that will cherish his precious memories forever.
Funeral Services to be held at Revival Center Church in Monticello, AR on Thursday, April 25th at 2 p.m. Services entrusted to Christian Brothers Funeral Home of Monticello
