A Monticello man was stabbed multiple times, and assaulted with several household “weapons” recently, after he tried to separate a man and the girlfriend that he as allegedly fighting with.
The victim received a life-changing beating, and the suspect’s charges now include Attempted Capital Murder.
A recent list of nuisance properties, as reported and maintaned by the city property inspector, included a city property.
The track meet for today has been canceled because of weather.
Today’s games have been cancelled.
An arrest warrant has been issued by the Chicot County Circuit Court for
a 23 year old Monticello man, for residential burglary and theft of property.
The warrant was issued in connection with the burglary of a house on West
Daniels Street in Dermott on the morning of January 8. A quantity of
firearms and electronics were stolen from the residence.

Tonya K. Loveless of Monticello has announced her candidacy for re-election to the office of Drew County Tax Collector in the upcoming Democratic primary election.

A 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of HWY 425 and Ladelle road closed both lanes of traffic, at 7:45 Thursday morning.
A southbound Chevy Trailblazer and a northbound Toyota Camry collided head-on, with the Camry reportedly catching fire after the collision.
Monticello Fire & Rescue, Lacey-Ladelle fire department, Arkansas State Police, Drew County Sheriffs deputies, and Drew County OEM responded to the scene.

Just before 7:30 Tuesday morning, 2 school buses collided at the intersection of HWYs 35 and 425, north of Monticello.
A MLive reader noticed the new driving instructions painted on the City Square.
The sign says “Left lane must turn left,” but the arrow points right.
“Parking only” seems to be allowed on the left, even though parking places are on the right.
We’ll probably be covering wrecks on the square, today.
