Shady Grove Baptist Church’s disaster relief team has made contact with a Vilonia area church, who can point the volunteers to local needs there.
Currently, team members are assembling fuel and supplies, as authorities have just begun to permit volunteer workers into the storm damage site.
Pauline Baptist Church plans to send Disaster Relief Teams to the tornado damaged areas, starting Wednesday.
The group plan to help clear debris and to help in any other way that’s needed there.

According to the Drew County Sheriff’s Dept, scam artists are contacting Drew County businesses, claiming to be affiliated with C&L Electric.
City council approved a resolution Tuesday evening to accept a bid from Environmental Protection Associates in the amount of $129,986 for mold removal and related work at Monticello City Hall. A GIF grant will fund $15,000 of the project.

During the monthly meeting of the Southeast Arkansas Intermodal Facility Authority Board April 16th conducted in Monticello, the Authority voted to authorize the completion of plans and specifications for construction of a water tank on the intermodal site located between Monticello and Warren.

On Friday, March 14, Jonathan Woods fatally shot Samantha Poole on/near the Sav-A-Lot parking lot.
An Air-Evac rescue helicopter was called to transport the victim, but she died before the copter arrived.
Woods was then loaded on the helicopter, airlifted to JRMC in Pine Bluff, for what has been described as “his non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the left armpit area.”
Tuesday evening, after considerable discussion, the Monticello City Council approved an amendment to the City’s contract with Utility Service Group to repair and reinforce the foundation of the Burlington water tower. The amount of this contract amendment is $124,200.
Following a divorce, along with many related and unrelated allegations, a Drew County man is in jail on Contempt of Court charges from Drew County Circuit Court.
At a special called meeting of the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees held Tuesday afternoon in a conference call, the board approved the sale of 80.99 acres to a Bio-fuel industry out of Texas, and an additional 3.5 acres to the Monticello Economic Development Commission to build an access road.
Around 8:45 Tuesday night, police and an ambulance were called when a UAM student was struck by a car, between Drew Central and HWY 425. Contrary to earlier reports, the student was not a part of UAM athletics fundraising project for the Make-A-Wish foundation, the Fun Glow Run.

Monticello HS Concert Choir earned Superior 1st Division ratings at the Arkansas Choral Directors State Choral Performance Assessment – CPA Thursday, April 10 at UCA in Conway. These ratings, combined with their 1st division ratings at the region CPA in March, gives MHS Choir the Sweepstakes Award for the second consecutive year. “This has been a remarkable year of achievements for our students. I am thankful and extremely proud of the dedication, discipline and arduous spirit they have displayed on a daily basis,” says MHS choral director, Bennie Vincent.
