Drivers License Testing Update

asp Arkansas State Police Drivers License Written Exams are regularly given from 8:00 am to 11:30, on Tuesdays at the Monticello Fire Training Academy

Road test are given from 1:00 pm to 4:15, Tuesdays, at the same location.


Vigil & Funeral Arrangements for Deceased Dermott Fireman

A Flashlight Vigil be held in honor of Dermott Fire Department Assistant Chief J.B. Hutton Jr. Assistant Chief Hutton passed away October 1, 2014. The vigil will be held at the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters’ Memorial, on Saturday October 4, 2014 at 8:30pm. The Arkansas Fallen Firefighters’ Memorial is located at One Capitol Mall on the State Capitol grounds in Little Rock.

McGehee Owls Defeat Pirates 50–0

Friday night, the Drew Central Sr. Pirates lost to the McGehee Sr. Owls, 50-0. However, the game was not so cut and dried as the score may suggest.

Billies Lose to Hamburg, 42-13

Throughout the first half of Friday night’s game, where the Billies travel to Hamburg’s Campbell Field, the game seem to stay in reach.

Even when the Lions began the 3rd quarter with a turnover recovery and a touchdown, the missed extra point seems to have been blocked by #23 Ryan Case, as shown in the photo provided by Laura McNeese.

Final score resulted in a 42–13 win for Hamburg.


Pee-wee Football on UAM Field

MYFL peewee football players enjoyed their annual trip to you William stadium, Thursday afternoon.

During the yearly event, The MonticelloLive Titans defeated the Shelter Insurance Cowboys, and the Reggie’s Lock & Key Deadbolts outscored the SEEMS Traumahawks.

Several of the Weevils players and staff were an attendance for the game.

imageBrittany Hodges 17 of Monticello, daughter of Allen & Brenda Chavis models for Bridal Savoir Faire hosted by Compassion Fashion Events & Designs on September 28, 2014 in Howell, AR.

This event took donations for The Glass Slipper Closet which is a non profit organization that provided used & formal gowns for young ladies who wish to attend prom or other formal events at no charge.


SEEMS Donates AEDC to PeeWee Football

The league would like to express their appreciation to Lyle and Kim Welch , owners of SEEMS and all of their employees.

School Board Implementing “Emergency Action Planned for Athletics”

The life-threatening incident at Watson Chapel, where 4 nurses out of the Monticello bleachers saved a junior high football player at the WC scrimmage game, has drawing attention to the possibility of similar incidents occurring.

At Tuesday night’s at Monticello school board meeting, the board discussed their “emergency action plan for athletics,”  which covers all sports included in the district athletic program.

Pee-wee Football Underway

MYFL football action began last Monday, has the Deadbolts (Reggie’s Lock & Keys) outscored the MonticelloLive Titans by a score of 38–15, and the Paul Griffin Shelter Insurance edged by SEEMS Traumahawks, with a final score of 28–26.

The MYFL tackle teams travel to Hamburg this afternoon for their weekly games; other flag league games are taking place this afternoon at Hyatt field.
