The MEDC is working with the Monticello-Drew County Chamber of Commerce toward planning their Annual Awards Banquet.

Audrey Day Howard recently celebrated her 9th birthday. In lieu of gifts, Audrey asked for food that was then donated to the food pantry at Immanuel Baptist Church.
Audrey is the daughter of Whitney and Jacob Maggard and Eric and Candi Howard. She is the granddaughter of Patty Ross, Paul Dottley and Jimmy and Wanda Howard.

At 8:30 PM, the jury was still in deliberation and the criminal case of Douglas Flemister own 12 counts of theft of property, for undelivered boats from F&F Custom Boats, during the calendar years of 20 13–20 14.
The two day trial went to the jury for deliberation around 6:20 PM, this evening, and still remains in deliberation.
As of our last MLive trial update, it was 3:30, the court was taking a break, waiting on a local business owner to arrive and testify, before the case was turned over to the jurors for deliberation.

After the break, Larry Flemister was recalled, by the defense. He brought with him steel purchase records. The prosecutor pointed out that the documents he offered had been modified.

The prosecution had Larry Flemister (Doug’s uncle and business partner) clarify that when he stated that he approved of Doug’s actions and decisions at F&F, he meant in a general sense; not that he had overseen and approved of each individual action.

The case of a local businessman went before a Drew County Circuit Court jury, Wednesday, facing 12 counts of theft of property, during 2013-2014.

Around 11:45 Tuesday morning, members of the Monticello Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire on Noah Lane, located near Dead Man’s Curve on Highway 278 E.

SEARK Reading Council announced the winners of the Young Writer’s Contest at the January meeting Monday night. Students in grades K – 8 from the SEARK five county area ( Bradley, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, and Lincoln) were eligible to enter. The students had to submit an original piece that they had written.
Prospective and current students who plan to apply for either institutional or private scholarships to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello next fall should do so by March 1,
