DC Bands Earn 1st Division Rating

26 members of the 6th and 7th grade bands at Drew Central, joined forces to compete in The Music Festival in Hot Springs on Saturday and earned a 1st Division rating, which is the best rating you can get.
After the contest they celebrated at Magic Springs.
This was their 1st time participating in the contest. Chris Bayless, Director of the “Band of Pirates” commented that “these students have worked very hard and deserve this honor, and I am very proud of them.”

A former EMT was arrested Sunday afternoon, on a traffic stop by the Monticello Police Department.
McClendon Family Sells SeaArk Boats to Correct Craft

After 58 years in the boat-building business, the McClendon family has completed a deal to sell their recreational boat company, SeaArk Boats, to Correct Craft, a Florida-based company with global operations headquartered in Orlando.

The Drew County Single Parent Scholarship Board announces the opening of applications for Summer I and Summer II seasons. Deadlines to apply for Summer I is June 6 and Summer II is July 11. Like its sister organization, Boys State is open to high school students who have completed their junior year in high school. It takes place in the summer before the senior year and is a week-long adventure in civic education. Boys State offers a practical, hands-on look at politics and government as students seek election at the state, county, and city levels and then engage in the governing process.
