Wednesday at lunch, members and staff of Shady Grove Baptist Church prepared a fish fry for the Monticello Police Department, inviting officers from other departments to join in, as well.
Someone described the event as “a way to show our local police officers that although hard work and dedication aren’t shown in the national media, they are appreciated by the residents of Monticello and Drew County.”
Saturday, around 6 PM, the driver of this Toyota 4runner was traveling from Warren towards Wilmar, when they crossEd the centerline and ran into the north ditch, overturning the vehicle.
No injuries were reported, the accident was investigated by the Drew County Sheriff’s Department.

Recently, SeaArk Boats hosted their annual employee luncheon at SeaArk Boats in Monticello. The event consisted of a Yard Pong tournament, various prize giveaways, employee of the quarter announcement, lunch, and the yearly boat giveaway.
President Steve Henderson stated, “We are proud of the hard work and dedication that our employees show every day. This event allows us to give back to them and to say thank you. We do several other events throughout the year but enjoy getting to spend the day with our employees.” We gave away over $800 in prizes not including our biggest giveaway, a SeaArk Boat. It has been just over three months since the body of Marquis Martin, who disappeared on February 9, was discovered north of Wilmar on March 7.
Marquis was a 26-year-old Drew Central Elementary School employee, who also worked at McDonald’s.
This link takes you to the reports that were posted on MonticelloLive.com about the case, and when they were posted.
Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober has occasionally issued a statement about the ongoing investigation, which hasn’t developed any substantial leads, at this point.
MLive spoke with Sheriff Gober earlier this week, where he stated interviews were still taking place, but nothing newsworthy has come up.
Due to rumors and allegations surrounding the case, we have contacted the Arkansas State Police and are posting multiple ways anyone with information in this case, or any other case, may contact law-enforcement on the city, county, or state level.
