At approximately 5:40 pm, Thursday, the Monticello Fire & Police Departments responded to the report of a fire at Western Sizzlin.
The fire was a grease fire, contained to the kitchen area, which was quickly extinguished.
Only minor damage was done and the restaurant is expected to reopen, today.
Western Sizzlin appreciates MFD‘s quick response, in case the fire had been more severe.
The University of Arkansas at Monticello named 263 students to the Dean’s List and 188 students to the Chancellor’s List for the fall 2021 semester, according to Keith Chambliss, UAM’s registrar. Read the rest of this entry »
Our pet has gone missing from 2 miles down Barkada road.
Barkada RoadHer name is Daisy and she is black with white on her chest and paws. She is a little over a year old, approximately 30 lbs and is wearing a camoflauge collar with her vaccination tag.

During school traffic, the southbound railroad signals on Highway 425, near the Highway 278 intersection were warning of trains crossing, even though no trains were in the area.
MPD helped direct traffic, until this situation resolved itself.
Arkansas Midland Railroad crews were on their way, to repair any issues that may have affected the situation.
