The Monticello Marlins Swim Team is open for girls and boys ages 5 to 18. The Monticello Marlins are a summer only competitive swim team. Swimmers will work on perfecting the basic strokes of freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly stroke and backstroke.
Registration will be Thursday, April 21, and Tuesday April 26th from 4:30pm -6:30pm each afternoon at the city pool. Deadline to join is April 30th. Read the rest of this entry »

Thursday, the SouthEast Arkansas Economic Development District heard and approved a presentation to establish a “waste to electricity” recycling facility in southeast Arkansas, specifically at the Chicot County landfill site, near Lake Village.
The facility can process 500 tons per day of everyday household trash, which will use a rotary kiln to create steam, which makes electricity. Recyclable metals, as shown in the article, passed through the system, and our recycled through appropriate channels. The leftover material from the process has several construction usages. Join us for Wilmar Baptist’s Easter VBS on Saturday, April 16th, from 11:00 to 1:30. This will be a unique and exciting experience. We will travel to some of the places where Jesus spent His last week. There will be art, games, treat bags, and lunch. The timing is a little different than most, so maybe you can drop kids off between egg hunts. There’s a possibility of rain as well, and this would be a great alternative in the dry. They will leave with a knowledge of the REAL meaning of Easter and a smile on their faces from the fun they had. Please consider us in your pre-Easter plans!

Immanuel Baptist Church Monticello will be holding an online dessert auction starting Friday April 15th on their Facebook page.
Dessert items will be available at 10am with an item description, pictures, and starting bid. You will place your bid in the comment section under the picture. The highest bidder at 4 pm will be the winner. Desserts can be picked up anytime after they are won, but before 6pm.
All proceeds will go to help our Children attend summer church camp.
