The mayoral debate invited Jason Akers, Bart Gregory and Joe Rogers, but Gregory and Rogers were unable to attend.
That was followed by debate between the Drew County Sheriff’s Candidates, incumbent Democratic Sheriff Mark Gober and the challengers, the independent candidate Tim Nichols and the Republican nominee James Slaughter.
The debates were sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society and Pi Sigma Alpha International Political Science Honor Society.

At 1:04, Friday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department was dispatched to a combine fire, located in the field it was harvesting, on Florence Road.
The combine appeared to be a total loss, but damage to the crops was minimal.
Selma Volunteer Fire Department also responded.

The Seark Miracle League will be playing ball tonight at 6pm at the Miracle League field at the Monticello Sports Complex. Teams will be combined to play one game. Bundle up and come out to show your support for these awesome athletes.
