The final line of severe winter weather produced ice of up to half an inch in the southern half of the state resulting in approximately 53,000 customer outages at peak today. Most of the outages are attributed to ice on trees and limbs, causing them to fall onto power lines. There are nearly 350 workers in and around the Drew, Bradley, and Dallas County areas. So far we have found 53 broken poles, 107 spans of wire down and several other locations with damage. Some customers in the Warren and Monticello areas will be restored tonight. It is likely that service to customers in areas with the greatest damage may not be restored until late into Saturday. Our crews and scouts are continuing to assess and restore service when it is safe to do so. We ask for your patience, and please know restoring your power safely and quickly is our top priority. We want to keep you informed. The best way to get information about outages is via Entergy’s view outage page.
This tree, blocking, at least one lane of Jordan Drive between South Main and 425, represents dozens of others that continue to fall across Monticello and Drew County, due to the weight of freezing rain and ice in the trees.
Roads are slick in places, but trees add to the danger.
No one was injured on South Main, Highway 83 South, when they tried to stop from driving into a fallen icy tree, but slid into it because of slick roads.
Please stay home, or at least stay safe.
The Drew County Courthouse will be open at 9 AM, Thursday. County trash pick up will be running 4 trucks, Thursday, starting at daylight, trying to get back on schedule. County road crew will also begin at daylight, especially pertaining to storm and ice.
Head of the Class will be closed today.
Monticello District Court (Thursday), is canceled.
Connelley Family Medical will be closed, due to power outage.
Reinhart Family Healthcare will be closed, due to power outage.
