2 Car Crash at 425/278, Sunday, 6:30 PM

At approximately 6:30, Sunday afternoon, there was a two vehicle collision at the intersection of 425 and 278, that required MPD, DCSO, MASI and SEEMS.
Vehicles involved were a Lincoln aviator and a Toyota Prius.
Three ambulances were seen at the crash site, implying multiple victims were injured.
Reggie’s and Rangel removed the vehicles.

Two University of Arkansas at Monticello students recently received honors in the annual Poets’ Roundtable of Arkansas Pat Laster Collegiate Poetry Contest. Jordan Self, a senior education major from Monticello, Arkansas, won first place with her poem “White Paint.” Mercedes McCool, a senior communication major from Bastrop, Louisiana, received an honorable mention for her poem “Jonesing.” Read the rest of this entry »

UAM Nursing Students Donate To United States Military Troops

The Student Nurses Association (SNA) at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) recently donated care packages valued at over $1,000 to the United States military troops through the Support Our Troops organization.
SNA, consisting of current students in the UAM School of Nursing, gifted snacks, personal hygiene products and more.
Ashlynn Baker, president of SNA at UAM, stated, “SNA’s goal was to enhance the morale and well-being of the deployed troops through items specifically requested by them. In each box, we also attached handwritten letters thanking troops for their service and sacrifices, along with printed and signed pictures of each of our members. We hoped to have brightened the soldiers’ day.” Read the rest of this entry »
