Northwest Arkansas Razorbacks vs. LSU (vs. ASU) – Editorial
November 29th, 2013 by Joe BurgessThe University of Arkansas has announced that 2014 – 2018 will only have one game played at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium each year.
During the Frank Broyles athletic directorship, Little Rock games were reduced from three games to two. This latest decision reduces it to only one yearly game, with no commitment to War Memorial after 2018.
After last week’s new uniforms, which are as attractive as this year’s win-loss record, alienating the rest of the state is not a good choice for recruiting, attendance, or anything else (except filling the Fayetteville Stadium).
The most dedicated hog fan I know summed up this way, “When there are no games in Little Rock, I won’t be going to any Razorback games.”
College football fans in Monticello, it seems, will soon have to choose between Mississippi State (207 miles away), Ole Miss (202 miles away), LSU (256 miles away), and their traditional loyalty to the Fayetteville Razorbacks, over 300 miles.
However, if you are still loyal to the color red, the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Jonesboro (225 miles away) could be a good choice, especially if they schedule some games in War Memorial Stauim.

I understand the anger with moving one game from War Memorial. But the university is located in Fayetteville. If the school kept the two games at War Memorial and the game in Dallas against A&M, the school would only have 3 games in Fayetteville. When we play in War Memorial we cannot have official visits for recruits. The attendance has also declined for games and it seems that more people are worried about tailgating at the golf course instead of watching the game. As your comments about the uniforms they only used them for one game and the players and recruits loved them. The school loses money every time a game is played at War Memorial.
I live here in Lacey and I go to two or three games a year all in fayetteville for the last 10 years and I attended my first little rock game this year. I don’t care if they ever have another game in war memorial. That was the saddest excuse for a college atmosphere I have ever seen. The stadium looks and sounds awful. And if anyone goes rooting for the red wolves over the little rock games, then they were not a fan to start with.
I agree. Some of is cannot afford to travel to Fayetteville every Saturday. That is a two day trip. Cost of tickets and hotel plus has is too expensive. When they in Little Rock it allows me to see my favorite college team.
