Both rear tires fell off of this Chevy pick-up, on HWY 278 , near the Monticello airport, around 7:30 PM, Tuesday evening.

Over a dozen Monticello firemen responded to the accident, along with Monticello Police and Drew County Sheriff’s deputies.

The incident was ” not as bad as it looks”  because….

(1) the vehicle was not driving down the road at full speed;  it was being slowly moved from one storage spot to another,  when the “wheels fell off .”

(2) The firemen on the scene were not paged out to emergency, but were at a training meeting at the nearby fire training station.

(3)   Both law-enforcement agencies responded because it was close to the city limit line, and needed traffic control.

No one was injured in the (almost)  accident.
