DTF’s Jason Akers Introduced as New Police Chief
February 27th, 2019 by iPhoneAt Tuesday night’s regular city Council meeting, Mayor Paige Chase introduced DTF agent Jason Akers as the new Monticello police chief.
Akers has 24 years of law-enforcement experience, and has served Monticello as commander of the 10th judicial district drug task force for the past 18 years.
Current MPD chief Eddy Deaton will retire from the office at the end of March.

New Police Chief Announced Tonight
It has recently been announced that Monticello police chief Eddy Deaton is retiring, effective March 31.
Deaton has 31 years law enforcement experience, with 26 years at MPD.
At tonight’s city Council meeting, Mayor Paige Chase has a spot on the agenda where the new police chief will be announced.
