The new “Monticello flag” at City Hall is flying at half-mast, due to the recent deaths of two local law enforcement officers, who served the city of Monticello.
John Dement, a recent criminal investigator / detective, for MPD, had served in many law-enforcement capacities around Southeast Arkansas (including Star City Police Chief), before completing his career in Monticello. Det. Dement died Saturday.
Marvin Odis Allen, a longtime Monticello police officer, earned the title of chief, prior to his retirement. Chief Allen passed away Sunday.
