March 22nd, 2022 by Joe Burgess
The MEDC, Monday, approved selling 10 acres of land at the HWY 35 East Industrial Park to Stroker Diesel of Warren, which would enable them to move their business, with 5 current employees, to Monticello, with possible expansion of 20 additional employees in the near future.
Stroker Diesel is owned by Zeb Beard and primarily focuses on 3/4 ton diesel work trucks, but also does big-rig repair.
As is customary of industrial agreements, the MEDC board agreed to a reduced cost of
$5000/acre, Based on providing up to 20 additional jobs to the Monticello community, and benefits to local vendors.
The specific land is located on the front portion of the park, across from the speculative building, but away from the transload section of the facility, since Stroker’s will not need rail access.
UAM Chancellor Peggy Doss said this would be a great opportunity for a partnership with UAM‘s Diesel Technology program.
Land development is expected to begin in the immediate future, as soon as the land transaction documents are in place.
