New Fire Chief Appointed – Former Fire Chief Moved to Water Dept.
January 17th, 2013 by Joe BurgessMayor Allen Maxwell, in a recorded statement Monday morning, confirmed that Fire Chief Steven Faulkner had been placed on administrative leave, and an interim Fire Chief had been appointed. Today, a few more details have been released.
Friday, Maxwell would only confirm that there was a personnel issue within the fire dept. that couldn’t be commented on. Following an FOI from MLive, a few more details were revealed this morning.
Steven “Blue” Faulkner, the former fire chief, has accepted a position with the city’s water dept. (at the new position’s salary) following his return from a Friday- Monday paid administrative leave.
The interim Fire Chief is Kelly Reid, a former captain with the dept., is now left to serve as our full-time Fire Chief. Reid is shown above receiving the Lions Club Fireman of the Year Award from their president, Don Hogue.
Unconfirmed rumors have circulating about the reasons for the change, but no details have been commented on, since personnel documents are very limited, as to what can be made public.
