Okay…. the boy is my fiance’s son. He did step off into a hole while we (his family of 4 sisters, dad, and step mom [myself]) were swimming as a family outing. His youngest sister of 9 years old pulled him to shallow water to his father. His father and myself performed CPR together. His father did chest compressions as I breathed to help bring him back to breathing and consciousness. As we performed CPR our girls got my phone from the truck and called 911. Our 13 year old talked to the operator while still upset and talked them to where we were located at Plantersville Access. After our son regained consiousness and had spit out most of the water, his father picked him up and carried him to the shore where the ambulance and officers were able to aid in his recovery.
We are super thankful to Mark Gober and his deputies, the fire department and volunteer fire department, state troopers, and EMTs for arriving so quickly and aiding us today. And we will never stop thanking God for sparing our child and surrounding us with so many helpful hands. May God bless all those that were sent to aid us in this extremely tramatic time.
He is doing very well and in high hopes of returning home tomorrow afternoon from Little Rock.
Okay, just an update so that the officers, emergency responders, nursing staff, and all others that are interested….
Our son is doing GREAT! Currently, we remain in Little Rock at ACH, but only for a little while. We are awaiting discharge papers. He is eating, drinking, walking, smiling, talking everything he did as a normal kiddo.
As of right now, there are no further issues stemming from the near drowning. His lungs are totally clear. His oxygen saturation have remained well above 92. Stable heartbeat. Steady appetite (I mean, like eating every 30 mins). And he is very active.
We want to thank those who have been praying with and for us continually. So many hands involved in getting him back to normal. So many staff members at both hospitals…. I can’t name everyone, but I am extremely thankful that you were all placed in our path at this time that we needed you. May God bless each and everyone in all your experiences!
I would like to thank God for His awesome presence. I am so thankful that you and your family had the emergency skills like CPR and the help of his sister! God used all of your hands as family as HIS hands to save your son! Good job for taking a family outing together & also for being prepared to do CPR/handle an emergency if it ever came up! Also, what an awesome example your family is to say be prepared when going out on the water–know what to do!!! I applaud you!!!!
