The Drew County NAACP Branch 6042-B held its swearing in ceremony of the elected officers and appointed standing committee chairs for 2025-2027 at the December General Membership meeting. Councilman Al Peer conducted the ceremony.
Committee chairpersons introduced their plans to actively move their committees forward.
President Clarissa Pace gave the state of the Branch comments and emphasized that the Branch would be more politically involved. She also stated that we would conduct more research to be sure that justice, equality and fairness was given to the communities of color. “We want to be sure there is truly fair housing, fair employment, fair Healthcare, fair education and fairness in all areas of concern. We intend to be stronger in assisting our community and becoming more involved where it makes a difference. We will be putting our boots on the ground,” she concluded.
The 2025-2027 elected officers are Clarissa Pace, president, Darrion Buffington, vice president, Miyoshi Smith, secretary, Constance Harrell, assistant secretary, Sharonda Forte, treasurer, Kimberly Martin, assistant treasurer, Melanie Rawls and Peggy Orr, members-at-large.
Standing Committee chairpersons are: Lou Lambert, membership and life membership, Dr. Christopher Allen, economic development, Regina Wells, housing, Velinda Woodard, ACT-SO, Zaratta Ingram, health, Carl Owens, community coordinator, Anthony Jackson, education, Ebonee Farmer, young adult, Special Sanders, political action, Bettina Randolph, youth works, and Jerome Pace, legal redress.
