Murder Trial – End of Day Update – Sheriff’s Investigator Testifies
July 25th, 2013 by iPhoneTim Nichols with the Drew County Sheriff’s Office testified. He was the lead investigator. He described the crime scene, damage to the property he found at the time of the murder, evidence found, and the handling and transport of the deceased’s body to the State Crime Lab. Of particular interest was a shotgun shell casing found at the crime scene.
The jury was dismissed at 3:45, in order to give counsel an opportunity to sort out significant evidence to be presented to the jury tomorrow.
Seven expert witnesses from the State Crime Lab, including the State Medical Examiner, appeared before the court and remained for an additional 15 minutes, at the judge’s request, to answer questions about their reports.
