Victim ID’d – $500,000 Bond Set for Murder Suspect

Judge Bruce Anderson set a $500,000 bond for the 29 year old Monticello man in the murder of a local woman, Thursday night.
Sources indicate that the victim was at the suspect’s apartment from 2 PM, until authorities were called, around 6 PM. The unknown victim was described “as a friend of the family“ to the victim.
It has been reported that she was beaten to death in the living room of his apartment, with a 2X4, before the suspect called police.

The murder suspect has been identified as Cameron King, age 29 of Monticello. He will likely face 1st Degree murder charges.

The Arkansas State Police has been requested to assist in the investigation of a homicide reported last night (Thursday, January 4, 2018) by Monticello Police Officers.
Special Agents of the state police Criminal Investigation Division have been assigned to the case.
Local police officers responded at approximately 6 PM to Turtle Creek Apartments at 113 Oakland Avenue.
Inside an apartment, police found the body of a woman who appeared to have been beaten to death.
Public identity of the victim is being withheld at this time until next of kin can be notified.
The woman’s body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the exact manner and cause of death.
A 28-year-old suspect in the case has been identified in the investigation and is currently being held pending the filing of formal criminal charges.
