After a year and a half of consideration, the Monticello City Council has accepted the Mt. Zion water association into the Monticello city water system.

The water association, under its previous management, had received fines and warnings from the Arkansas Department of Health.  Under its newly organized board (in the past year and a half) funds have been raised to cover back debts.  With the city accepting the association into its water system, the fines and penalties will be waived.

It was reported at Thursday night’s meeting, there have only been three repairs to the Mount Zion system in the past year and a half.

There was a 4-4 tie vote last May, by the council.
