Akers also emphasized the importance of the Police Tip Line, which is 723-LEAD, and encourages people who see a crime committed to call the tip line number and report it, or if someone has knowledge of a crime, call and report it anonymously. Callers are eligible for a monetary reward for their information if the crime reported is of a serious nature and certain criteria are met, such as an arrest being made or illegal drugs or stolen property being recovered. The crimes need not be just local crimes, as all information concerning criminal activity anywhere is welcomed.
