According to the Monticello police department, Several people have received calls from a 210 area code out of Texas.

The caller states they are with the social security office. They say they have a warrant for you and are suspending your SS# if you don’t pay them. They want you to go purchase gift cards and give them your numbers.

The Social Security department will not call you for something like this. You would receive a letter.

Please be aware this is a scam.
