MPD Makes 3 Arrests for Saturday Shooting.
January 6th, 2021 by Joe BurgessAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, MPD arrested three suspects in connection with a drive by shooting that occurred on January 2, 2021. Officers received a call and responded to a residence where a man had been shot multiple times.
According to Akers, it was the quick action and information received from local citizens that was the critical component needed for MPD officers to quickly locate the suspects vehicle as they attempted to leave town.
According to Akers, Isaiah Latavious Burns, age 20, of Hamburg, Jaylen Wilson, age 22 of Lake Village were arrested in connection with the incident. A juvenile was also arrested in connection with the incident but due to current juvenile procedures, their name will not be released.
Multiple firearms believed to be connected with the incident were recovered from the suspects vehicle.
Bonds were set at $100,000 for Wilson, $200,000 for Burns. The juveniles bond information is not released.
The victim is in stable condition at last report.
