MPD / DTF Arrrests – Comercial & Residential Burglaries & Drug Forgery
August 15th, 2013 by Joe BurgessWednesday, the Monticello Police Department and The Drug Task Force made arrests in three felony cases .
Hibbitt Sports was burglarized during the overnight hours of August 13th. Suspects gained entry through chopping a hole in the roof.
They thenĀ entered the back room area of the business. Items stolen were clothing and shoes. Most of the property has been recovered and one arrest has been made. The name of the suspect has not been released due to more arrest pending in this case.
On August 14th, at approx. 7:30pm, Monticello police and drug task force officers arrested Akeema McCree, of Monticello, for residential burglary. McCree was seen cutting a lock on the back door of a home on Shelton St. McCree entered the home and was seen carrying items out to a vehicle parked in the rear of the residence. McCree attempted to flee from officers, but was arrested inside the home.
On August 14th, Monticello Police Dispatch was notified by a local pharmacy of a subject attempting to use a forged prescription. The local doctor was called by the pharmacy and Drug Task Force agents and were told the prescription was a forgery. DTF agents and Monticello Detective Kenny Cox waited at the pharmacy for the suspect to return. The person came in to pick up the prescription and was arrested without incident. The name of the suspect is being withheld at this time due to other arrest pending in this case.
