Monticello Schools’ Transportation Dept. Named 1 of 6 Best in State

The Monticello School District’s Transportation Department was selected as one of six school districts in the State of Arkansas and awarded the Arkansas Association of Pupil Transportation School Bus Safety Award given at this year’s AAPT Annual Conference in Hot springs, this week.

The School Bus Safety Award is based on the following criteria: (1) Quality of the school bus inspections,(2) Quality of the school bus maintenance records, (3) Cleanliness of the school bus fleet, and (4) Quality of the preventive maintenance program.

The Monticello School Board, administration, faculty and staff and students congratulates Mr. Danny Lloyd (Transportation Director), mechanics Oscar Wigley and Carey Windham and all Monticello School District bus drivers for such an outstanding job!

Now this is something the community should be proud of.
First, as a parent to be able to put my kid and not only send her to school but to various activities across the state in a top notch well maintained vehical is reassuring.
Secondly, if any of you have been to a football game or band competition or just on a elementary field trip perhaps you felt like me when those buses (sometimes 3,4,5,6 of them at one event) were lined up together clean and well maintained–it might sound crazy but it looks great for monticello schools and the community and is something to be proud of.
Thirdly, the bus barn itself is great how ALL buses are parked under the shed to get out of weather and maintain for longer life.

Thanks to mr Lloyd and his crew. You guys are carrying “our world” on those buses and we appreciate the pride you take in this. Another group of unsung heroes.
