The Board approved a recommendation by Mr. Harper to pass a Computer Use Policy. The school district provides electronic equipment, including desktop computers, laptops, iPads, and in some cases Chromebooks. Mr. Harper reported that recently there have been a significant number of incidents of damage to this equipment; in some cases it was accidental, in other cases it was negligence. There have also been problems with teachers adding apps to their equipment that are not approved by the school district. He requested that a policy be passed to hold individuals accountable for negligent damage to their equipment, and for unauthorized use.
The Board discussed available dates for graduation in 2015. May 18 was approved.
Superintendent Harper presented bids for baseball batting cage canopy. Only one bid was submitted for $49,000. The board approved it.
Superintendent Harper presented the result of bidding that was invited for installation of indoor turf. Only one bidder responded with a quote bidding the specifications the school submitted. But they also included an alternative quote for an indoor turf that is cheaper and they recommend will hold up better than the specifications requested for this application. They will have a bid bond and a performance bond. The Board approved the bid.
The Board discussed repairs to the OEC building. There are leaks in two buildings. There is damage to several outside canopies on the OEC building, over both ends that kids use when they do outdoor projects.
Next Board meeting is approved for January 20, 2015.
