Monticello Man Dies in House Fire

December 29th, 2010 by

A 74 year old Monticello man lost his life Monday morning, during a house fire at his home on HWY 425 North.

Roy “Bo” Hoke, a lifelong resident of the Monticello community, and retired logging and timber harvester, lived just inside of Lincoln County.

The fire is believed to have started in the front of the home, which was totally engulfed in flames, when a driver passing by noticed the fire and called Monticello dispatch at 1:40.

Rock Springs and Little Garnett Fire Depts. resonded, as did Lincoln and Drew County Sheriff’s deputies.

Hoke was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jordan and Hoke families want to express their appreciation to everyone who responded to the scene for their help and concern.

  1. Deputy T. Nichols says:

My heart goes out to the family of Mr. Hoke. I also want to thank Rock Springs Fire Dept. & Drew County Deputies for helping Little Garnett Fire Dept. and myself. Again my prayers are with the family.

  2. Dorothy & Raymond Jordan says:

“BO” was more than just a cousin to my husband. He was more like a brother. We may not ever understand the way he went, but God is still in control. God new that he was tired. My heart goes out to he daughter Debie cause she put her live & family on hold many times to make sure her daddy was taken care of. Now I know he has been reunited with his love ones. One of his famous word was “I’m doing just fine” so for sure he just fine. I pray the family grow closer through this & thank God for the time he allowed us to know him. God Bless & keep you. We love you: The Jordan Family!!!
