Monticello Man, Accused of Child Rape, Asks Court to Remove Ankle Bracelet
August 18th, 2016 by iPhoneA 39 year old E. Jackson St. resident was in Drew County Circuit Court, in front of Judge Bynum Gibson, Monday, asking to be able to remove his ankle bracelet due to its expense.
Ricky Dale Halley is accused of “deviant sexual activity” against a victim, who was described as “younger than a teenager,” in an ongoing series of events up to, and including, April 3 of this year.
Halley and his attorney explained to judge Gibson that after he paid his bond fee, and hired an attorney, he just didn’t have enough money to continue paying for the ankle monitor, without causing a hardship.
Deputy prosecuting attorney Andrew Best responded to the court, explaining that the ankle monitor also includes a GPS, so that his location would be known, if he he left his residence or tried to contact the victim.
A decision on that issue is expected to be made at next month’s Drew County Circuit Court hearing.
