Monticello Citizens Recognized as ASPSF Volunteers of the Month
December 8th, 2020 by SubmittedVolunteers Angelia Anderson and Hazelene McCray dedicate a great deal of their time to uplifting their community in any way possible. Whether it’s by providing useful information on agriculture, health, and nutrition or by connecting others to resources, these volunteers do it with their love of people in mind. These ladies know and understand the value of education and continue to spread the word about what ASPSF is doing throughout the area. Whether it’s by serving afterhours, interviewing applicants, or contacting students, they go above and beyond the call of duty. They are invaluable jewels to Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
Angelia began serving the single parents of Ashley County as a board member in 2008. Previously as the Arkansas Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Program Assistant, she worked to empower individuals and families with children, with limited income, to acquire knowledge, skills, attitude and behavior changes necessary to maintain nutritionally sound diets and enhance personal development. Currenly, Angelia is employed by the Drew County’s Health Department. She is a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Angelia is also very active with the youth membership at Pilgrim Rest AME Church in Monticello, AR.
Hazelene started her service with ASPSF in 2018. She currently leads the Cooperative Extension office as the Staff Chair. She and her office continue to offer a host of educational programs and services. Investing her time and energy to uplift others has always been her focus. Hazelene is also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Monticello’s Kennedy Boulevard Church of Christ is fortunate to have Hazelene actively serve on their education committee.
Volunteers make it possible for Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund to provide life-changing scholarships and support to thousands of low-income single parents each year. ASPSF volunteers share their time and talents by reviewing applications, planning student workshops, mentoring students, teaching study skills or assisting with fundraising. Each month volunteers are recognized statewide by the organization for their efforts. Our volunteers strengthen families as they help strengthen our program and expand our reach. Will you join us?
