January 19th, 2021 by Joe Burgess
The Drew County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be hosting our “Annual Martin Luther King Jr., Breakfast” which will be drive-thru only beginning at 9:30 am on Monday January 18, 2021. The breakfast will be held at Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church at 527 E. McCloy Monticello, AR.
As you know, COVID-19 brings so much uncertainty, so we must adhere to the CDC guidelines. We are asking all patrons to please stay in your vehicle and you must wear a mask as we deliver your free breakfast. Yes, the breakfast is free but we are asking for donations to continue to serve our community.
The Drew County NAACP Branch uses the funds donated to implement effective local and national NAACP civil rights programs with focus on the areas of civil engagement, economic sustainability, education, health, public safety, criminal justice, and youth work.
The Virtual Martin Luther King Jr., Day of Celebration event will be held on Monday January 18, 2021, at 6:00 pm via Zoom and Facebook live. This event will recognize the MLK Heroes of Drew County and persons in the community who have made and are making noteworthy achievements.
Due to the present-day condition of the COVID-19, we are unable to meet, greet, hug and share. As a long-time sponsor’s and supporters, we are asking for your support by providing a donation.
If you would like to specifically donate to a certain department (Youth Department, Youth Scholarship, Adult Department or ACT-SO) please make a note with the designated department that you would like to donate too.
