Comments about MLive Videos at Council Meeting
May 1st, 2012 by Joe BurgessMonticelloLive’s video coverage was mentioned twice during the city council meeting, once by a Parks Commissioner and once by the mayor.
Rebecca Socia reported that a video of their Jan. 23 meeting had not been posted.
Not all meeting video segments are newsworthy. Below is a related video on the same topic that was posted two weeks prior to that meeting. It was viewed a total of 48 times. MLive simply used a report to cover their actions that night. We did not ignore their meeting, or their decision.
At 45:30 in the final video, Mayor Allen Maxwell also commented “generally MonticelloLive’s got everything,” referring to the baseball board meeting. We were not notified of that meeting. All organizations are encouraged to publicize their meetings on Monticello’s Daily News, but some sports leagues rely on notes to the schools and email messages to get their messages out. MLive will gladly post their announcements, free of charge.
Council member Claudia Hartness’ remark, “They chose not to show up,” was likely just a case of bad judgement.

Joe, I realize you can’t be at every meeting held for every organization. So don’t sweat the comments….keep doing the best you can for your site and our community.
Too bad though that the meeting was not recorded. Maybe then everyone could and would have seen the existing Babe Ruth Board in action….or is it inaction?
