Miracle League Update – Possibly Including Soccer
January 21st, 2017 by iPhoneAt Tueday’s parks committee meeting, Karen Connelly gave an update on the progress with the Miracle League.
The bidding process is winding down. The field surface vendor secured and now are processing bids for concrete and fencing work.
Construction should begin in 60-90 days. Once construction begins, completion should be done in 90-120 days, with league play beginning in Fall of 2017.
A State Soccer Association representative informed the group that the US Soccer Foundation and US Youth Organzation offer grants for programs such as the Miracle League. Both organizations are actively pursuing communities to include soccer related activities in their special needs sports programs.
The Miracle League fields can be used to play soccer as well as baseball.
Mrs. Connelly will also be checking into possible grant opportunities.
