MHS Robotics Qualifies for Vex World Robotics Competition
March 15th, 2017 by iPhoneThe Monticello High School Robotics team has qualified to compete in the Vex World’s 2017 Robotics Competition by finishing first out of the thirty-three teams competing at state.
Seven teams from Arkansas qualified for the world competition: Monticello, Star City, Bryant, Harber, and Jonesboro. Both Jonesboro and Bryant had two teams from the schools to qualify.
The team was selected on the basis of its performance in the qualifying matches, skills points, and the quality of its engineering notebook. The team participated in six qualifying matches and were 3-3 going into the quarterfinals.
The Vex World’s 2017 will be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky on April 19 – 22.
Ms. Kelly Griffin is the team’s coach, and Ms. Jill Hood is their sponsor. Team members include the following MHS students: Seth Horne, Kimberly Toth, Drake Davis, Cannon Fradsham, Jackson Grant, Jaxen Morphis, Daniel Ferguson, Connor Leonard, Jorden Mangum, and McClain Wilson.
The team’s corporate sponsors are Maxwell Hardwood and Starko.
