December 5th, 2012 by Monticello SchoolsThe Monticello High School Forensic Team earned a 2nd place sweepstakes award at the North Little Rock Wildcat Classic Tournament. Twenty schools attended, and because limited competitive slots were allowed, most schools brought only their very best performers. Hannah James (2nd place- original oratory) and Jacob Chisom (extemporaneous speaking) advanced to finals.
Several other performances advanced into semi-finals: Erin Ashcraft (prose interpretation and duet acting), Don White (duet acting), Zach Cason (storytelling), Jacob Chisom and Dillon Todd (improvised duet acting), Hannah James (solo acting and humorous/dramatic interp), and Mary Kate Jones and Savannah Reynolds (duet acting). The MHS Readers Theatre cast, performing 13 Reasons Why, also advanced to finals. All of these performers are now qualified to compete at the tournament of champions in April.
Many MHS students earned 3rd place in prelim’s (only the top 2 advanced), excellent ratings (23) or superior ratings (16). This is one of the largest tournaments we attend. Please visit the MHS Speech & Drama Club’s website for upcoming events, news, and pictures.
