MHS Cheerleaders attend Summer Camp

The Monticello High School Cheerleaders, coached by Whitney Maggard, recently attended the National Cheerleaders Association Camp in Hot Springs.
This squad worked hard, competing against squads from Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas. The squad was awarded all superior ribbons for game day cheer and jam routine, received a bid to compete at Nationals, received the technical excellence award in stunts for the jam routine, won the Sr High Division of the Top Gun Dance Competition, Chosen for the Herkie Team Award voted on by other squads at camp for teamwork and leadership, and awarded a spirit stick daily to bring home at the conclusion of camp.
Senior Lillian Lay competed as a finalist in the Top Gun Jump Competition. Eleven Cheerleaders were nominated for All American Cheerleader, with Katie Rosegrant, Lily Parke, Sarah Prince, Kaiden Hale, Lillian Lay, Riley Derryberry, Arianna Reyes, and Katie Standley being selected to the All American Team.
Mascot Josh Young received a superior ribbon for his skit, as well as, selected most spirited mascot at camp. At the conclusion of camp, seniors Katie Rosegrant and Lily Parke were invited to tryout for the NCA Staff.
The squad invites you to come watch their performance and support the Billies at the Blue/White Game on Friday, August 12th at 6:00 pm at Hyatt Field.
