MHS Cheerleaders And Mascot Attend NCA Summer Camp
July 18th, 2023 by Monticello SchoolsThe MHS Cheerleaders and Mascot attended the National Cheerleaders Association summer camp in Hot Springs June 5-8th. They received several awards competing against some outstanding squads from Arkansas, Texas, and Mississippi. They won 1st Place in the Game Day Cheer and 3rd in the Jam Performance Routine. Other awards they earned were
1) The Sharp for Sophia Award selected by the NCA Staff for being the high school team with the sharpest motions/ dance technique
2) The Herkie Team Award voted on by other squads for Unity and Leadership
3) Top Gun overall Dance Winners
4) Sophomore, Sidney Ballard, was a finalist in the Top Gun Jump Competition
5) Mascot, Landon Reid, got all superior ribbons, Most Spirited Mascot, the Unity Award for being most united with his team, and got Nominated for All American Mascot.
6) The Whole Squad was nominated for All American, with 11 of the 16 selected for the All American Team
7) All four seniors- Arianna, Madison, Neely, and Riley were invited to tryout for NCA Staff
8)Got a Spirit Stick every night and got to take one home
9) Got a Bid to compete at Nationals

The squad invites everyone to come support our team as the Billies open the season with a home scrimmage game against Rison on August 15th, followed by the Blue/White game on August 18th.
