According to Lt. Jason Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, Task Force Agents and Monticello Police arrested two local residents, as well as a Pine Bluff man, on drug charges Monday afternoon.
According to Akers, one of the men was spotted by a Drug Task Force Agent behaving suspicious at a local business. Agents then placed the suspect’s vehicle under surveillance and observed it go to another store in Monticello where a occupant of the car purchased ephedrine tablets, which are used for manufacturing methamphetamine.
The vehicle was followed by Monticello Officers and stopped. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Lance Tucker, age 28 of Drew County, gave a ficticious name. After he was correctly identified, he was arrested for criminal impersonation and driving on suspended license.
Other suspects in the car were questioned and it was determined that one of the vehicles occupants, identified as Robert Roberts, 30, of Pine Bluff, had provided money for others in the car to acquire cold pills. Agents subsequently located epedrine based cold pills inside the vehicle.
A third suspect identified as Kenno Forrest, age 23 of Monticello, was also arrested. All suspects arrested face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to manufacture. A fourth suspect was detained, questioned and later released without charges. Drew County K-9 handler Rex Davis was also contacted to assist on the traffic stop with the Sheriff’s Department K-9.
All three suspects are currently in jail at the Drew County Detention Facility where they are awaiting first appearances.
