Message from the Mayor
April 10th, 2020 by Joe BurgessIn these difficult and unpredictable times I hope that everyone is following the social distancing directives given to us by Governor Hutchinson. Masks are also now to be worn when going out in public and the possibility of interacting with others is probable. We have been making a difference in Monticello and I appreciate what everyone is doing to slow the spread and flatten the curve. It is working and it is only working because Monticellonians are smart and they care about others as well as themselves. Thank you for your attention to the details. That is what is making a difference in Monticello and Drew County. I received an email from the Municipal League with a plea and instructions from the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement this morning urging our local pastors and churches to please hold Easter services creatively and not to congregate so as not to create an upswing in our numbers of cases. Together with other cities and counties we will make a difference.
