Update – MEDC Agrees to Negotiate Potential Sale of Spec(ulatiive) Building for Medical Marijuana Cultivation Facility
September 7th, 2017 by iPhone
At Wednesday’s MEDC meeting, the board voted 7-3, with 1 abstention, to negotiate the potential sale of the “speculative building,”
built in 2003 in the industrial park on HWY 35 East, to an interested party with the intention of using it as a medical marijuana cultivation facility.
The unnamed group was described to be the most credible of the groups that contacted MEDC, with similar plans.
There will be 5 cultivation licenses granted in the state. There will be 32 dispensary permits approved.
Should this group not receive a permit, the deal is automatically voided.
An estimated 20-30 jobs are expected, plus any additional supply/security/transportation related jobs in the community.
The resolution approved by the MEDC is shown above.
The actual sale price of the structure and property could be affected by the potential economic benefit of the local payroll’s increase to our local economy.
