McGehee Men’s Club Oyster Supper Postponed Indefinitely
January 27th, 2022 by SubmittedFor 27 years, the McGehee Men’s Club Oyster Supper has provided our community the opportunity to come together and fellowship with family and friends. Each year, it has continued to grow and raise money to fund local charities, provide scholarships, and maintain the Community Center building.
After extensive consideration of the current COVID-19 situation with the Delta and Omicron variants, we are announcing that Oyster Supper 2022 will be indefinitely postponed. This was an extremely difficult decision for myself and our Board of Directors, but the health and safety of everyone involved has remained our top priority throughout the decision-making process.
In the current virus climate, there was no feasible way for the Oyster Supper to implement required precautions to ensure the safety of everyone who worked and attended. While we cannot predict what the COVID-19 situation will look like in February, the numbers in our town and surrounding communities have continued to grow.
Although there will be no Oyster Supper in February, we are looking into the possibility of having an event later in the year when COVID numbers improve. Our members will also be sponsoring a few smaller fund raisers throughout the upcoming year. These fundraisers will allow the McGehee Men’s Club to continue to support local charities and fund scholarships.
I hope you understand and support our decision. It is our plan and desire for the McGehee Men’s Club Oyster Supper to return later this year and be bigger and better than ever. Thank you for your past support.
